Focus On Selling Instead Of Operations Booms Sales
Project Gold Star changed our staff's focus to sales. We always looked at sales history, but not in a way to make goals. We didn't use history to increase sales. A major shift was changing from monthly department goals, to weekly individual goals - a goal that the individual had control over. We brought two departments in two locations into the program. For the first seven months, November of 2001 to May 2002, here are our results...

Our sales were already at -3% and heading steadily downward.
